Update Landscape Large-Scale Research Infrastructure
This spring, NWO is updating the Large-Scale Research Infrastructure (LSRI) Landscape. New large-scale research infrastructures and large-scale research infrastructures not yet included on the current Large-Scale Research Infrastructure Landscape (hereafter Landscape LSRI) are invited to apply.
Research infrastructures already on the Landscape LSRI are asked to update the information on their infrastructure. Signing up and updating can be done by filling in an online inventory form. Deadline for signing up and updating is 10 April 2025.
What is included in large-scale research infrastructure?
Research infrastructures include equipment or collections of instruments, archives, collections or research data, e-infrastructures and data infrastructures. Large-scale research infrastructures are research infrastructures that are freely accessible to researchers and have a size of at least €10 million euros in terms of capital investment and operational costs over a five-year period. Any research infrastructure that meets the definition for Large-Scale Research Infrastructure is included on the Landscape LSRI, regardless of which funding sources fund it.
Inclusion on the Landscape LSRI gives visibility to the research infrastructure for potential users. In addition, the Landscape LSRI is also important for policymakers and ministries. The national overview provides a starting point for making choices and formulating the strategy for funding research infrastructure. For example, the National Roadmap Large-scale Research Infrastructure comprises a small subset of the LSRI Landscape and consists of the research infrastructure of national importance and highest priority for realising research breakthroughs. The updated LSRI Landscape 2025 is an important starting point for the new LSRI National Roadmap, to be published in 2026.
