ISSP

International Social Survey Programme

The ISSP is a cross-national collaboration programme conducting annual surveys on diverse topics relevant to social sciences. Established in 1984 by its founding members Australia, Germany, Great Britain and the US, the ISSP has since included members covering various cultures around the globe. Its institutional members, each of them representing one nation, consist of academic organizations, universities, or survey agencies. Since its foundation, over one million respondents have participated in the surveys of the ISSP. All collected data and documentation is available free of charge.

Infrastructure and User Services

GESIS’ Dept. Survey Data Curation (SDC) is the official ISSP data archive. Beyond long-term data preservation, the archive team is responsible for harmonizing and integrating the national datasets. It also provides the data, its documentation and support for external users. Between 1997 and 2017 the archive team was supported in the processing of data by the Spanish ISSP partner JDS/ ASEP every second year.

GESIS’ ISSP module web pages provide search facilities and comprehensive information on modules, metadata and data access. Please direct any questions about data, documentation or archiving to the following email address: isspservice@gesis.org
