EnergyLabNL

EnergyLabNL

The research infrastructure is an open, adaptable facility integrating various energy systems (thermal, molecular, electric, and data) at low to mid voltages, with assets up to 1 MW. It enables energy conversion, storage, and large-scale data collection, supporting both traditional and innovative technologies. Designed to accelerate industry deployment and academic research, it fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration and system testing across scales. Its flexibility allows for experiments with time scales from nanoseconds to years, offering unique and specialized research opportunities.

Infrastructure and User Services

The basic infrastructure is composed of the original energy infrastructures of the TUE with various options to connect to temporary large assets for research testing in a functional environment. For example a large EOS or electrolyzer can be connected to the original energy network without compromising the existing net work. The connection between the extension intended for research should therefore function as a galvanic isolation in many ways. As the whole network will be influenced if high power systems for R&I are connected, the data generated and collected of the whole campus will be made available for researchers.  The data will be made available with alle necessary documents for ensuring the use and distribution and storage of data.

Examples/description of the type of research

Allresearch related to energy and in the range of TRL 1 to 6 will be facilitated if possible (check on aspects like legal, permit, responsibility, ethics etc)

How to access the infrastructure?

The foreseen access mechanism is an extension of the current internal process of assessing the suitability of a new test facility.
