Solliance is a partnership of R&D organizations from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany working in thin film photovoltaic solar energy. In order to strengthen the EU region’s position as a world player in PV, Solliance is creating the required synergy by consolidating and coordinating the activities of 250 researchers in industry, at research institutes and universities. Various state-of-the-art laboratories and pilot production lines are jointly used for dedicated research programs which are executed in close cooperation with the solar business community. Solliance aims to generate revolutionary new PV concepts (eg Building Integrated PV) by the use of thin film technology.

Solliances’ research stretches across the entire field, from fundamentals of materials science to sophisticated production technologies that bring large scale production at low cost in reach. The close collaboration between ‘applied science’ researchers with academic staff and industrial teams has proven to be extremely effective.

For its three principal themes (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS/CZTS), Organic/Perovskite PV, and Thin Film PV Applications) it is equipped with a unique infrastructure for pilot production, analysis and characterization of thin film photovoltaic cells, modules and end-products.
